HYDRO POWER
Hydropower is fueled by water which is freely abundant and renewable due to the constant global cycle of evaporation, precipitation and flowing back into the ocean. The generating of hydropower contributes no polluting emissions itself during operation however the building of large dams can have negative environmental impacts. HydroPower is harnessed through the flowing or falling of water to generate mechanical power. The amount of power generated will be determined by the speed of the water flow or by the distance of the fall of the water created by large dams or waterfalls.
The ocean contains two types of energy: hydrothermal energy where the water is heated from the sun and mechanical energy created from the tides and waves.
Micro hydro, or small-scale hydro, (300 kW or less capacity) are stand-alone and not connected to the grid, It is one of the most environmentally friendly because it does not interfere significantly with river flows.
